Letter Home - January 16th

Hello Grade 6 Parents,

As some of you may already know, your grade 6 children have the opportunity to attend a 4 day outdoor school adventure at YMCA Camp Chief Hector from June 8-11, 2015. This experience is a wonderful way to end the year and students often leave the camp with lifelong memories.

I have been to this camp many times with many groups of students and it is an experience that leaves them with increased confidence and independence.

As we are now half way through the school year, I wanted to email you with some early information regarding the camp:

We will be holding a parent information meeting in March so that all your questions regarding the camp can be answered. We will also go through packing lists, camp activities, medication procedures, and bussing information.

Unfortunately, we will also have to talk about how students can become ineligible to go due to behavior issues or grades. (At this point in time, no one has become ineligible.)

More information regarding the meeting will be sent out in February.

The cost of the camp this year is $315.00 per student. This cost covers the cost of the camp, all meals, and bussing costs.

We will be setting up an online account for outdoor school on our website, so parents that wish to pay in installments, rather than all at once, can do so.

If you wish to make monthly payments, you can begin doing so on February 1.  There will be a link on the school website. There would be 5 monthly payments of $63.00 beginning on Feb. 1st and ending on June 1.

Please let me know if you would like to take advantage of this payment plan.

We do have financial assistance options available to those families that require it. More information about financial assistance will be explained at the Parent meeting.

If you wish to make one, lump sum payment, you may do so anytime between February 1st and June 1st, either by cheque, or through our online payments link.

I am coordinating the outdoor school experience this year, so if you have any early questions, please contact myself, or your child's homeroom teacher. We look forward to seeing you all at the parent meeting in March.

Thank you,

Chelsey Bird
