Welcome! My name is Devon Donahue-Reid and I will be teaching Grade 7 language arts, social studies, cosmetology, and tourism, this year. This is my third year teaching at Langdon School and I am very excited to be back.

Currently, I live in Calgary, Alberta, but I grew up in Airdrie, Alberta, attending Rocky View Schools. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Mount Royal University and a Bachelor of Education degree in Social Studies from the University of Lethbridge. I spent my summer this year volunteering for Stampede Caravan perfecting the perfect pancake, and at the dog park with my rescue dog. Outside of school, I practice yoga, knit, paint, and play baseball and volleyball.

I believe the first foundation to teaching is building a relationship with each and every student and I will strive to build a classroom environment that is safe, comfortable and calm. It’s very important to me to have communication with the families in my classroom. I send home emails a few times a week with what we’re working on in the classroom and important upcoming dates, including school-wide events and homework. I have a very hands-on teaching style which involves creating and working hard. You can expect to see some interesting projects come from your student this school year.

I plan to place a large focus on goal-setting and taking ownership of learning in the upcoming year. By Friday, I will send home a link to a parent survey that you will need to fill out to help me understand the needs and interests of your student. All assignments and information given in the classroom will be available on Moodle by the end of the weekend.
