Welcome to Ms. Inglis' Home Page
Welcome! This year I am looking forward to teaching grade 5 again. We will be working in conjunction with Mrs. Toney's class several times through out the year.
I ask that students spend 30 minutes a night reading a book, magazine, or comic of their choice. If students are reading to siblings or parents are reading to kids, than that counts toward the 30 minutes of reading. We will track the reading time in their agendas (with parent initials) and students will be able to earn prizes or priveledges.
Homework is not assigned on a regular baisis, completed/late/missing assignments are recorded on a tracking sheet on the white board. If students have incomplete, late or missing assignments by Thursday afternoon, I will email parents to let them know that the students are expected to stay in at lunch on Friday to complete the work. I request that they bring a lunch on those days. If the work is not completed at that point it will be sent home to finish.
5I will be creating a monthly newsletter that will be sent home the last day of class each month. Major projects and due dates will be posted on the calendar below. I will also be sending parents a weekly email letting you know about any homework or upcoming assignments or projects.
A new activity I am hoping to implement this year is weekly nature walks through Langdon park. The purpose of these walks is to become more connected to nature through observation of nature changes. Studies show that individuals who spend time outdoors develop a stronger sense of resiliency. Connections to the curriculum Grade 5 Ecosystems & Weather topics and LA journaling. According to RVS policy, our class will require two parent volunteers to assist us with our walk. Is there anyone willing and interested in joining us on a weekly walk? If you are, please email me bnesgaard-inglis@rockyview.ab.ca and let me know which day of the week and time works best for you. If there are enough volunteers, we can set up a rotation schedule.
Each of the folders below will hold any digital copies for assignments or projects or links that pertain to that subject.
I am looking forward to a great year.
If you wish to contact me please email me at bnesgaard-inglis@rockyview.ab.ca or call 403-936-4579 extension 8366.

Tips for parents:
- Parents should encourage their children to review concepts on a regular basis regardless of upcoming assessments.
- Parents should encourage their children to try and perform calculations without the use of a calculator as much as possible.
- Parents should have their children show and explain recently covered work to them as part of a regular review of important concepts.
