Welcome to Devon Donahue-Reid's Page

Welcome! My name is Devon Donahue-Reid and I will be teaching Grade 6 language arts, Grade 7 language arts,  social studies, cosmetology, tourism, and portfolio/literacy this year. This is my second year teaching at Langdon School and I am very excited to be back.

Currently, I live in Calgary, Alberta, but I grew up in Airdrie, Alberta, attending Rocky View Schools. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Mount Royal University and a Bachelor of Education degree in Social Studies from the University of Lethbridge. I spent my summer this year volunteering for Stampede Caravan perfecting the perfect pancake, and participating in a weeklong professional development course at Telus Spark called the ShiftLab. This focused on Design-Thinking and creating hands-on projects. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to the classroom in this coming year. Outside of school, I practice yoga, knit, paint, and play baseball and volleyball.

I believe the first foundation to teaching is building a relationship with each and every student and I will strive to build a classroom environment that is safe, comfortable and calm. It’s very important to me to have communication with the families in my classroom. I send home emails a few times a week with what we’re working on in the classroom and important upcoming dates, including school-wide events and homework. I have a very hands-on teaching style which involves creating and working hard. You can expect to see some interesting projects come from your student this school year.

I plan to place a large focus on goal-setting and taking ownership of learning in the upcoming year. By Friday, I will send home a parent survey that you will need to fill out to help me understand the needs and interests of your student. All assignments and information given in the classroom will be available on Moodle by the end of the weekend.

You can call the school anytime to reach me or feel free to email at me ddonahuereid@rockyview.ab.ca should you have questions, comments or concerns. I will be glad get back to you as soon as possible. I would appreciate your email address if you are comfortable communicating through email, or your phone number if that is your preferred method of contact. You can find a form on the back of the course outlines which will need to be filled out and sent to me so I can get my mailing list set-up.

Looking forward to a wonderful new school year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Devon Donahue-Reid
